About this site
One of the favourite activities at Stackpole

On wild and windy days (yes, we do have some), Bosherston Quarry provides us with a controlled, sheltered area for novices to get their first taste of canoeing (open boats) or kayaking (closed cockpit boats).

With competent groups it is possible for us to head out on the sea in kayaks from Stackpole Quay. A short paddle takes us round the dramatic limestone cliffs to Barafundle Bay, possibly the most scenic beach in Pembrokeshire.

All the canoe and kayak instructors at Stackpole for Outdoor Learning are qualified by the British Canoe Union and the Welsh Canoe Association to operate on the water with groups of people however young or old.

In addition all the instructors have 1st Aid and life saving qualifications.

When operating outside of sheltered areas of water the trips are planned in respect of tides and prevailing winds and will be cancelled if the conditions are deemed unsuitable by the leader. Trips on the sea and in the Milford Haven estuary are always reported to the coastguard before leaving and must report back in at the end of the trip.
